Health Benefit Tally

Spinach: Glycoglycerolipids from spinach can help protect the lining of the digestive tract from damage-especially damage related to  inflammation. Certain unique anti-cancer carotenoids-called epoxyxanthophylls-are plentiful in spinach. Spinach is an excellent source of other antioxidant nutrients – including vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, and manganese-as well as a very good source of the antioxidant zinc and a good source of the antioxidant selenium. The vitamin K provided by spinach-almost 200% of the Daily Value in one cup of fresh spinach leaves is important for maintaining bone health.

Strawberries: The anthocyanins in strawberry not only provide its lush red color, they also serve as potent antioxidants that have repeatedly been shown to help protect cell structures in the body and to prevent oxygen damage in all of the body’s organ systems. Strawberries’ unique phenol content makes them a heart-protective fruit, an anti-cancer fruit, and an anti-inflammatory fruit, all rolled into one.

Whey protein powder: Whey protein is low in calories, fat and sugar, which helps to prevent weight gain while promoting a lean body. Whey protein improves blood sugar which prevents hunger. Better blood sugar balance decreases cravings for sweets. Whey protein also helps to reduce stress by slowing production of cortisol, a stress hormone, to reduce stress and depression while helping releasing the calming hormone serotonin.
