Laboratory testing is a key component of patient assessment and diagnosis in Naturopathic Medicine.
The following tests are available in-office:
- Routine urinalysis by dipstick (10-point test strips): used to detect urinary tract infections (UTIs), monitor organ function with acute or chronic kidney disease, part of pregnancy health screening, check urine pH. Results in 60 seconds.
- Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (urine hCG) a.k.a. pregnancy test: >99.9% accuracy from 7-10 days after conception or 4-5 days before the first missed period. Results in 5 minutes.
- Rapid Strep Test: used to assess if a sore throat (‘pharyngitis’) is caused by strep A bacteria, rather than a virus. Results in 5 minutes.
