“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” – Abraham Lincoln
Whether it’s husbands, brothers, fathers, uncles or friends, we ladies can have a tough go at getting the men in our lives in healthier state. Men tend to drag their feet more when it comes to healthcare, generally speaking. Reluctance, indifference and fear may play a part of the avoidance equation. The truth is, we want our male counterparts to be around for a long-time and be healthy. Considering that life expectancy for men is 79 years old (vs 83 for women) and we know that many Canadians live their last ten years in sickness, preventative care is of the utmost importance. Your lifestyle, stress regulation, food intake, sleep patterns, self-care routines – these all factor into what level of wellness you enjoy day-to-day.
I can assure you, there is a place for men in naturopathic medicine; a safe, happy, healing place. My male patients and I discuss this regularly. They talk to their male family, friends and co-workers about their health results and try to get them into a local naturopathic doctor to deal with pain and chronic diseases naturally instead of popping pills and ignoring their suffering.
Guys, listen up! The bottom line is we ask this of you out of love and we sincerely wish for you to feel your best.
